The Brooksteed, a community-focused pub, partnered with us to create a festive video advert that reflects the pub’s ethos of warmth, inclusivity, and connection. The advert explores universal themes of loneliness and the cost-of-living crisis, emphasizing how the Brooksteed serves as a beacon of community spirit during the festive season.

Objectives

The key goals for the advert were to:

1. Position the Brooksteed as a welcoming and supportive space where everyone belongs.
 

2. Highlight pressing issues such as isolation and financial challenges, while offering a hopeful message of togetherness.
 

3. Celebrate the festive season by showcasing the Brooksteed’s cozy, vibrant atmosphere.

Approach

James Michael Marketing collaborated with the Brooksteed team to develop a narrative-driven video that resonates with viewers emotionally. The story follows a central character, initially portrayed in a state of loneliness, before finding solace and connection at the Brooksteed.

To effectively convey the story:

Lighting and Color: The initial scenes used muted, cool tones to emphasize isolation, transitioning to warm, golden hues as the character enters the pub. The festive décor (twinkling lights, Christmas jumpers and cozy corners) brought the Brooksteed’s inviting atmosphere to life.

Themes: The advert highlighted the challenges of loneliness and financial hardship, themes that many can relate to during the holiday season. The transformation from solitude to connection underscores the Brooksteed’s role as a haven for the community.

 

Authenticity: The video was filmed in the Brooksteed itself, ensuring the environment felt genuine and familiar to regulars while inspiring newcomers to visit.
